CEE Departmental Policy on Tracks and  Approved Electives

Each Civil Engineering student must select a track from either:

  •  Environmental Engineering

  • Geotechnical Engineering

  • Structural Engineering

  • Water Resource Engineering

This decision should be made prior to selection of second semester junior year courses, but must be made no later than final registration for the first semester senior year courses. Each track consists of two courses (Track electives) totaling six credit hours as follows

In addition to the senior track described above, each CE senior must complete six(6) additional credit hours of Approved Electives. These electives are to be selected from the listing of CE Approved Electives given in the following table. A minimum of three(3) of these six(6) CE approved credits must come from the list of courses in the following table designated as applicable to the student's speciality track. The remaining three (3) credits must come from the general list. The civil and Environmental Engineering chair may approve the substitution of alternative courses for either CE Track Electives or CE Approved Electives.  This substitution, however, will only be made on the merits of each case after prior discussion among the student, the department chair and the student's advisor.
